CAPE TOWN GETAWAYS

Cape Town is surrounded by incredible, diverse getaway destinations, each bursting with charm, character, and natural beauty. I’d be happy to arrange a rental vehicle or driver for you and highly recommend spending a few nights in at least one of these extraordinary spots during your trip!

THE WINELANDS

~1 hour drive from Cape Town

Whisk away to the winelands, just a short trip from Cape Town, but feel as though you’ve entered another world. Enjoy the stunning, rolling landscapes framed by majestic mountain peaks as you settle into the hills of Stellenbosch. Spend your days savouring wine (at a fraction of what you’d pay back home!), indulging in fine dining, soaking up the African sun, and enjoying the company of friends. Day trips are doable but staying overnight is extra special—you’ll experience the golden light and tranquillity of the vineyards and surrounding mountains at dawn and dusk. Go horseback riding, try an e-bike or tractor wine tour, and browse charming boutiques in quaint towns. Not to be missed, the winelands offer South Africa at its finest.

HERMANUS

~2 hours drive from Cape Town

The Garden Route is a famous coastal drive southeast of Cape Town, known for its endless beaches, rugged shoreline, charming towns, and enchanting wilderness. Hermanus, the first major destination along the route, is celebrated as the world’s best land-based whale-watching spot. In season, keep an eye out for whales or dolphins while enjoying the ocean breeze. Take morning walks on the scenic Cliff Path (look out for dassies!), explore the local hiking trails, sample the nearby wineries at Hemel-en-Aarde, shop the boutiques and markets, and indulge in fresh seafood as you soak up the Vitamin Sea.

CEDERBERG

~3-4 hours drive from Cape Town

Welcome to an out-of-this-world landscape that will spark your imagination and free your spirit! I absolutely LOVE the Cederberg for its surreal rock formations—like massive boulders stacked by giants playing Tetris—and its vast, untouched wilderness, where you can reconnect with nature and find true peace. Cederberg also offers one-of-a-kind accommodations, from adventurous cave suites to luxurious retreats like Cederberg Ridge, where comfort meets nature. This unforgettable destination will leave you in awe and make for an extraordinary addition to your trip.

PATERNOSTER

~2 hours drive from Cape Town

Paternoster is a treat for all the senses and a forever favourite of mine—a foodie’s paradise and a quaint, whimsical, beachy, work of art. This charming whitewashed town, nestled by the sparkling sea, will instantly put you at ease. Spend your days on peaceful beach strolls, indulging in fresh, farm-to-table and seafood specialties, browsing quirky boutiques, or simply admiring the colourful boats scattered as if washed ashore like playful decorations, and the cutest fonts. From August to September, the nearby West Coast National Park bursts to life with blooming wildflowers and continues your safari with ostriches, flamingoes, zebras, and even whales. During the summer months, Paternoster is just seaside bliss!
