Wining & Dining - Where to Eat & Drink in Cape Town

City Centre

  • Our Local is an eclectic brunch/lunch greenhouse setting furnished with antiques, plants everywhere, and quirky touches like chairs hanging from the ceiling. Obsessed with the Shakshuka!

  • Kloof Street House is a whimsical elegant Victorian-style mansion with different rooms and coves and a stunning fairy lit courtyard. Delicious & thoughtful dishes!

  • Art of Duplicity for top-secret speakeasy & jazz cocktail bar set in a hidden storage room with wooden palettes and burlap sacks, tucked behind Truth Coffee. Reservations are needed!

  • Tjing Tjing — head up to the rooftop for delicious Japanese fusion with a cool upstairs setting and small outdoor open air section.

  • Athletic Club — an epic old Victorian style building with something for everyone. Live jazz takes place in the basement, and the top floor has comfy living room settings with a fun dance floor that is jam packed on weekend nights (come early to avoid the line)

  • Dark Horse for modern ambient cocktail vibes with a small rooftop patio right in the buzzing heart of town

  • Asoka is a chic, scene-y cocktail bar with a delicious eats, even more delicious Pornstar martinis, a beautiful fairy lit olive tree in the centre and a dance floor in the later hours.

  • Culture Wine Bar gives me New York vibes in a second-floor brick setting with candlelit street views and live jazz.

  • Yours Truly or Tiger’s Milk Kloof Street for chill laid-back resto-pub vibes

Camps Bay

  • La Belle Bistro for tasty eats and amazing second-storey balcony views of the ocean and Camps Bay strip

  • Zenzero for something a bit higher end and lower down (street level) with amazing wood-fired pizza

  • Mantra Cafe is really vibey with leafy decor and on-point ambience, or Tiger's Milk is a classic laid-back favourite with pub-style food (burgers, pizza, tacos, etc)

  • Head up to Chinchilla rooftop for a cocktail or enjoy dinner here as well.

  • The Lawns at The Roundhouse are situated on the slopes of Table Mountain, an open-air lawn setting tucked amongst the forest.

  • Anywhere in Camps Bay, find a seat with a view and you can’t go wrong!

Sea Point / Green Point

  • Kleinskys might be low key my favourite restaurant in Cape Town! Mouth-watering bagel sandwiches and other eats (BEST eggs benny!) and an unpretentious delicatessen setting.

  • Scheckter’s RAW for the best kale avo toast in the world and amazing RAW burgers (on a dragonfruit bun!)

  • Ariel for modern Italian restaurant with pizza & pasta in a chic and vibey setting

  • Mojo Market for live music most nights & an array of local food stands from ramen to tacos to ribs, pizza, burgers, and poke. Sit up top by the seated bar and observe the vibrant energy! 

  • Three Wise Monkeys for ramen & Izakaya with a buzzing atmosphere

  • Shoreditch in the Winchester Hotel is probably the best patio setting in Sea Point to sip on a glass of bubbly, enjoy some sliders, and soak in the sunset

  • Giovanni’s Deliworld (just outside of Sea Point in Green Point) is a specialty Italian grocery store with amazing home cooked comfort food and make-your-own sandwiches, perfect for your sunset picnic!

  • Stranger’s Club (also in Green Point) is a beautiful Bali-esque open-air café with various seating options and an awesome African style boutique in the back

The Winelands

  • Visit Blauwklippen Family Market (open 10-4 Sat & Sun) — a beautiful open-air market under the trees with live music and local, organic and sustainable food, produce and goods.

  • Consider a picnic at Alluvia — a beautiful setting on a serene dam surrounded by spectacular mountains, and only R595 for a bottle of wine & stocked picnic basket for two!

  • Visit Babylonstoren if you missed it on the wine tram — a spacious Cape Dutch wine estate which is an institution in the winelands: farm fresh goods, gorgeous gardens, essential oil distillery, adorable home goods gift shop, and of course wine!

  • Boschendal is also a classic luxury wine farm to visit and offer awesome picnic set-ups to live music in the garden

Fine Dining

  • Kloof Street House is a beautiful fairy-lit Victorian-style manor in the city centre with delicious cuisine (and live jazz on Sunday afternoons!)

  • The Silo Rooftop offers a stunning view of the Cape Town mountainscape from this luxury hotel, with casual eats like poke bowls and bao buns and delicious cocktails.

  • The Potluck Club is a trendy rooftop eatery at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, offering a shared dining experience with diverse small plates and captivating Cape Town views.

  • Nestled at the foot of the cliffs along the way to Chapman’s Peak Drive, Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic is a stunning high-end restaurant with a seasonal tapas-style menu and locally sourced flavours against the backdrop of breathtaking ocean views.
